It is a new semester!

With the beginning of a new semester everyone starts with an A
Make the most of your class-time!

Today we are going to take a closer look at the Monroe Doctrine
1. Let's look at Hemispheres



As countries gained independence the United States wanted to form relationships and explore trading and commerce opportunities since they were no longer colonies of other nations.  
2. It is important to critically analyze specific words and sentiments in the document.
3. Handout 1: Monroe - In his Own Words
4. Shared read- students read aloud with me when instructed😃
5. Think, Pair, Share based on Monroe – In His Own Words each student will read 3 paragraphs/half of the document and analyze. Write down "Key Ideas"
6. Handout 2: Graphic Organizer
7. Students will "close read" the text and fill in the graphic organizers with relevant ideas, vocabulary, quotations, and meanings from their half of the document on their own.
8. Each student will present at least one piece of information their partner shared with them during the Pair portion of the Think, Pair, Share.
